I’ve had a number of studio spaces over the past 30 years, but my current (and most loved) space is in Strathalbyn, SA. It is on the top floor of our home with a large window looking out over my street and the hills. I am absolutely not a minimalist and like to surround myself with objects and inspiration that I love. My tastes run to darker, more macabre subjects, but I also love quirk and kitsch and fun pieces. am an insatiable reader and most of my art library resides in my studio. As my work ranges over many different media, from sculpture to illustration, I keep a very organised space to avoid the frustration of my days being taken up with sifting through chaos to find the materials I need. Can't live without... Comfortable work chairs. Books. The beautiful drawing table my husband designed and built for me. My sculpting tools. Music while I’m working. Magnifying light. Our miniature dachshund, Fig, snuggled in her studio bed. Lorell's Fibre Arts workshop details here
