The international art textile biennale 2025
The International Art Textile Biennale seeks to exhibit the best of contemporary art textiles and invites submissions that reflect a wide range of works related to the textile/fibre medium.
INTERNATIONAL ART TEXTILE BIENNALE 2025 will again present a broad spectrum of phenomena in the field of fibre/textiles, which for a few years has invariably become more popular amongst artists all over the world.
The goal of the exhibition is to include innovative work rooted primarily in textile as well as art that explores unexpected relationships between textile and other creative disciplines.
The exhibition will be shown throughout Australian Regional Galleries for a season of 20 months.

Traveling Exhibition: Accepted artists will be asked to give permission for their work to travel. All work selected for touring should be available for up to two (2) years beginning January 2025. Work on tour will be insured. Work will be returned upon tour completion.
Retention of Art work: The selected works for the IATB 2025, will be retained by IATB25 and the regional galleries until the end of the exhibition touring calendar.
Return of artwork: These works will then be sent back two (2) weeks after the end of the final exhibition to the artists in the manner that they were received.

AU$5,000 non-acquisitive awards. The award winning art works will be selected after hung and before the opening night at the East Gippsland Art Gallery, by a renowned Australian textile artist.
Catalogue:
A full colour catalogue of the exhibition will be published. It is essential that the image provided is of a quality that will reproduce accurately and meet the high standards of a professional art publication. Exhibiting artists will receive a complimentary copy. Catalogues will also be available for purchase. All applicants will have the opportunity to preorder the exhibition catalogues.
Entry Requirements:
Up to one artwork per entry form. Two entries allowed per artist.
Entries must be original work completed after 31st December 2022
All work must be primarily in textile or executed in a textile technique. Work must be original in concept and design and not be the result of a class or workshop.
Work must not exceed 2 metres in any single dimension.
Entry Fee:
A fee - AU$75.00 non-refundable per entry,
And must be paid at the time of application.
Selection:
Work will be judged from digital images. Selection will be based on the overall quality of the work and its compliance with the standards stated in “Entry Requirements.”
Accepted work will be subject to final approval by the jurors’ representative.
Work, which differs significantly from the image representing it, will be disqualified and returned to the artist.

Artists may submit up to two (2) works using 2 individual entry forms.
Each entry must be represented by two (2) images: One (1) full view and one (1) detail. Works entered, as a multicomponent must be represented by three images: One (1) full view and two (2) details in jpg format, 300dpi
Please title images with the following format:
"Surname_Title.jpg"
"Surname_Title_detail.jpg" (eg. smith_feelinggroovy_detail.jpg)
Digital submission Specifications:
IMAGE: JPEG or JPG only, up to 5MB, 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side (either H or W), larger file size (should be under 5 MB) is not accepted.
Artist Statement:
For each work submitted, artists must provide a no more than a 100 word artist statement/description of the work, including dimensions, materials, and techniques in a Word Doc or PDF.
Please title the statement in the following format:
"Surname_Title_Statement.doc"
Photographing your work:
Use a professional photographer if possible.
Each entry should be represented by clearly focused, well-lit images on a neutral background that accurately reflects the work submitted. Colour must represent the piece accurately. All edges be clearly visible in the image. Work exhibited in a frame must include the frame in the digital image. Work framed under glass must be photographed without glass but noted that it will be displayed with glass.
Artists will be asked to provide HIGH RESOLUTION digital images (full view and detail) for use in the catalogue. In the full view, the entire artwork must be clearly visible; the edges of the work must show. Acceptable images should be at 3000 pixels on the largest dimension.
Notification:
Notification of the jurors’ decision will be sent to the artist’s email by 25th OCTOBER 2024.
IATB25 will retain the submitted images (accepted and declined) and reserves the right to use the images in publications and gallery publicity. Beyond such use, the artist retains full copyright of submitted images.
Delivery and return of work:
Artists are responsible for all costs incurred in delivery and return of accepted artwork. Artists are responsible for insurance of their work. IATB25 will insure during transit to and from all galleries. IATB25 will insure artworks while in the exhibition galleries.
Each shipped entry must be packaged in a reusable container for the return of work. No Styrofoam peanuts please.
AUSTRALIAN ARTISTS.. All shipments must include prepaid return shipping postage and address mailing label.
INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS should contact IATB25 to make arrangements for return shipping payments before sending their work to the gallery.
Include the insured value if insurance is requested.
Hand delivered entries must be at the East Gippsland Art Gallery venue by 17 JANUARY 2025.

FREIGHT COSTS

Before wrapping/packing, place all return freight/consignment documents with your work. IATB25 will contact the successful International artist about return postage at the end of the tour of works.
COLLECTING YOUR WORK
Posted works will be mailed after the closing of the exhibition at the final venue

IATB25 and participating galleries will not be responsible for any damage or loss suffered by any person or organisation due to infringement of copyright.

- Number of entries: You may enter up to two separate artworks on two separate entry forms
- Medium accepted: Only contemporary art textiles
- Artists: It is open to all artists, Australian and international
- Date Completed: All artworks must have been completed after 31 December 2022
- No wider than 2 metres and no longer than 2 metres
- No refund will be given for entries that are found to be oversize once delivered — it is the artists’ responsibility to ensure their artworks meet entry conditions
- The selection of finalists is based on the images you supply. Winner is selected in person from the exhibition of shortlisted artworks. It is extremely important that you supply the best images you can
- So that your artwork is shown at its best please provide high quality, high resolution images, shot in good light, so that the judges can see it properly. If the images are not clear your entry will be rejected
- Upload two images per artwork
- one image of the entire artwork, showing the full artwork
- one detail - show a smaller section of the artwork in detail so your technique is demonstrated
- Complete the entry form to send images of your artwork, with your details and entry fee.
- These images will be examined by the judges who will select artworks for exhibition in the International Art Textile Biennale 2025.
- Finalists will be asked to send their artworks to the East Gippsland Art Gallery. You will also be notified if you have not been selected as a finalist.
- The judges will confer on all artworks exhibited and choose the winner. Prize winner will be announced on Friday 31 January 2025 at the Official Opening and Presentation Event.
