I live in Upper Yarra Valley, Warburton My studio is as much outside as it is inside. Utilising all natural fibres, my studio ‘storage cupboards’ extend endlessly outward, through the garden and surrounding bush. Inside and out, every spare wall has become a celebration of bundled and drying natural fibres just waiting for the inspiration to become nest sculptures. Can't live without... inspiring vista that tempts the imagination to believe, if arms were stretched wide enough, they could become wings to soar. The sound and sight of birds, singing and dancing, and building their nests too, directly within view. Flora, fauna and found objects. A rambling garden and native bushland, an endless source of inspiration and natural fibres for my sculptures. A block of beeswax and a No 14 Chenille needle. More windows than walls, to welcome the outdoors in and abundant natural light to help eyes that unexpectedly have grown old, especially when threading needles with gossamer strands of horse hair for stitching!
