I live in Kew and my studio is a five-minute walk to the Harp Village in East Kew, both inner eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria. For the past 14 years I have rented space for my studio above a retail store in my local ‘Harp Village’ shopping strip. The spacious, north-facing room and enclosed verandah were part of the domestic living room belonging to the original shop, built in the early 1900’s. Can't live without... Warm sunlight streaming into the studio during winter; Several fans in summer (the upstairs space becomes very hot with no air conditioning); Many pairs of sharp embroidery scissors and my collection of embroidery and lace; Large walls I can pin into; My “Wonder-boom” (Bluetooth portable speaker) for listening to Radio National, podcasts and music; A supportive chair for when I’m sitting and extracting needlework from its linen support; Taking regular breaks and doing my physio exercises, to strengthen and protect me from this painstaking, repetitive and obsessive work!

Louise I heard about you several years ago from Win Burgess. Brian was my cousin. And I believe you have had some connection with Walcha as well.

Lovely work, just lovely (just checked your website). I bet the winter sunshine - and access to coffee shops in East Kew - is lovely. Thanks for sharing.
