Lives in South Australia My studio is a late 1800’s shop front with a very high ceiling, a cellar downstairs, and lovely filtered light. In the initial stage, my paintings and 3D works are very messy and quite physical - there’s a lot of sanding and scraping back and water gets sloshed everywhere - I start in the shed outside, and then move indoors to finish the quieter phase of the work. Can't live without.. Storage, and a lot of it - I like to have everything to hand, and being able to find thIngs at a glance is important. Having the cellar is very handy, but it’s something of a mixed blessing - doesn’t help to curb my magpie tendencies in any way at all. An antique boot maker’s awl - this was a gift nearly forty years ago - it fits my hand perfectly and is my favourite mark maker and general purpose tool. A big work table - I prefer to work standing up, and it’s adjustable, so suits perfectly. Gordon's Fibre Arts workshop details here

What a wonderful space. An artist's dream. I like the organised storage.

Fabulous studio Gordon, storage is so essential as well as a large table to work on, your cellar for homing found objects sounds intriguing!
