cloth books: materials, memories & meaning
In this workshop students will use meaningful fabrics and found objects to create expressive and evocative cloth books.
You will make paper prototypes of simple book structures to understand their possibilities, learn how to adapt bookmaking processes when working with fabric, experiment with simple techniques to modify fabrics, and consider how aesthetic and material choices can contribute to the meaning of a work. Hand or machine stitch (or both) will be used to transform your chosen materials into a cloth book (or books) that tells a personal story.
