exploring motif: a process of discovery through making
This is an experimental workshop that features the observation and exploration of a single object or motif.
Daily studies, and exercises are designed to challenge and expand your usual practice, to see where this subject matter will take you.
We will use a variety of processes and techniques (eco-print, discharge, monotype, dry-point etching, lino-print, free-machine stitch, collage, etc), to explore drawing, mark-making, printing, and stitch on cloth and paper. We will generate ideas, create imagery in journals and scrolls, and make prototypes for developing 3-dimensional sculptural forms.
Suitable for all abilities and experience. Basic sewing machine skills recommended.
