This work explores fabric as architecture, concepts of home and the temporal nature of interior space. In conversation with Walter Benjamin’s concept of ‘image as dialectics at a standstill’ it considers the contemporary experience of living with things from the past, the power of personal memory and the routines, rituals, social interactions and objects that signify home and tie us to place. A block of translucent bricks made from vintage mosquito net encapsulates underlying fragility of the concept of home, our vulnerability in the face of nature and the futility of the humanist project.
