Elizabeth Haigh is an artist-designer living in the Yarra Valley, Victoria. Her practice works across painting, textiles, printmaking and photography.
Her artwork embodies Elizabeth’s love and respect for the land, the colours, textures and patterns she observes inform her one-of-a-kind pieces. Elizabeth’s fibre working methodology references her painting training, using dyes in a ‘paint-like’ style, then gradually adding details such as layering, stitching, twisting and even felting.
Recent works contain symbolic motifs and stories that comment on human impact on the environment.
Elizabeth is passionate in all aspects of art, she studied Fine Art (RMIT) and throughout her creative career has worked in a range of roles. Elizabeth is an experienced educator who, in addition to, conducting workshop on textile and art techniques, has taught Art and Design in Australia and England.

the essence of colour
Colour is the focus of this workshop. Do you find difficulty in mixing the colour you want, repeating the same colour again and again or choosing a colour combination? In this workshop, you will learn ways to mix myriads of colour using only primary colours from which you will produce a reference booklet for future colour work.
Then, have fun playing with colour as you apply your newfound colour mixing knowledge to apply dyes while learning polychromatic print processes. Discover different techniques to achieve interesting and unique effects on plant/cellulose fibres i.e. cotton, linen, viscose as well as silk. Your finished fabrics can then be incorporated into a garment, fabric collage, patchwork, an assemblage or embellished with embroidery, beading etc.
Suitable for all levels, some painting skills required but not necessary as you will learn techniques and tips along the way.
