masterclass: the fabric of daily life
Textiles are part of the fabric of daily life, but in an art setting the processes, materials and qualities of textiles provide a vast array of metaphors that can be used as a starting point for generating ideas for contemporary hand stitched works.
Starting with shared inspiration, then working through a variety of creative thinking exercises as a means to develop and explore ideas, we will work together to discover the many possibilities. Various concepts and ways of working begin to suggest themselves the more broadly we think opening up many new possibilities.
With supportive mentoring you will then be guided on your own personal project learning how to translate your specific ideas into compelling hand stitched works incorporating embedded or attached objects as desired, with a strong focus on personal expression.
The process of planning and creating triggers ideas and concepts that ultimately can be taken further into any area of creative practice.
