Refabricated: techniques transforming textiles
Combine traditional textile processes, such as stitch and dye, with experiments in expanded ways of using them, to inspire your own authentic works.
Participants are guided through techniques exploring materiality, and circularity, using worn out or damaged household textiles. You’ll be shown how to set up a fructose indigo vat for dyeing, and we’ll work through processes of deconstructing and reconstructing, to transform our textiles.
You are invited to bring light coloured items such as old garments, table cloths, tea towels, pillow cases, or fabric scraps. Rather than being relegated to landfill, we’ll investigate ways to reframe and refabricate textile waste.
A small selection of my salvaged textiles stash will be provided.
Ideal for beginners or artists with experience wishing to extend and develop their skills
