About Fleur Woods

A deep dive into the layers of fibres, techniques and tricks used to create Fleur Woods’ unique contemporary stitched paintings. Using a variety of materials Fleur will guide you through the process of designing, collaging and ultimately stitching into your own fully fibre stitched artwork. With a focus on florals, texture and colour this workshop offers the opportunity to set your creative spirit free. As a full time, self taught artist Fleur shares her  process generously in a fun and relaxed environment. This workshop suits any ability as participants can enjoy a small group size allowing for plenty of one-on-one support to achieve your creative goals. Experienced stitchers can use this class as an opportunity to work with mediums / techniques that aren’t their usual practise and beginners can learn stitches while creating their artwork.

Creative Floral Stitch

We will begin by sourcing fabrics and threads to create a fibre collage on our base fabric, once our initial design is laid out we will begin to stitch back into the collage. As we go we will cover different stitches and have plain linen handy for practicing techniques before applying them to our artwork. There will be a focus on layering with stitch and creating texture.

Once we are all underway there will be casual one-on-one sessions to ensure you are supported to learn at the level you are at.

The end goal is to create your own unique ‘stitched painting’ either finished or as an ongoing project.
