Catriona Stanton has been a practicing artist for over twenty years and is based in Wollongong NSW. Stanton works with the mediums of bamboo and cane to create skeletal architectural towers, fields of toothpicks and organic woven forms. The linear nature of the giant grass and the open netting it creates when woven acts like a drawing in space, a way to capture space and make the invisible visible
Bamboo Garden Sculptures
This workshop enables participants to create their own large scale garden sculptures by weaving a flexible bamboo. These sculptures can also be used as climbing frames for plants in the garden or simply provide a feature in the garden or landscape. Some prior experience with weaving is desirable but not essential. This is a fairly physically demanding workshop due to the scale we will be working, requiring a full body engagement rather than sitting still.
