let's tie-up!
Come join Neha Puri Dhir, textile artist from India, for an explorative workshop on Shibori- the ancient Japanese technique of resist dyeing on fabric. Experience the bold interplay of colours while unraveling the mysterious beauty of resist dyeing. Shibori involves different types of folding, stitching, twisting and compressing of fabric followed by multiple levels of dyeing to unfold alluring patterns on the fabric.
The workshop will involve learning and working on different types of resist-dyeing techniques such as stitch resist, clamp resist and shape resist. It will subtly graduate to contemporary adaptations of Shibori from the traditional ones and will leave you with creative possibilities to explore further.
The workshop is recommended for all age groups. No prior knowledge of fabric and dyes is needed, just come wearing a set of clothes you can get dirty and bring your creativity along. Any basic knowledge of stitching will come in handy. The artist has a vast experience of conducting workshops at varied levels; from skilled traditional craftsmen to young students with no prior experience.
By the end of class, you will surely be amazed as the stunning one-of-a-kind patterns are unfolded and revealed!
