From 2000-2015 I created a series of 200 artworks (my Structures Series) that gained a lot of attention, was published widely and won several awards.
I was happy with the work and it was good work. But I always felt it was just a place holder. It was the start of something. I knew more was to come. Something that would be more uniquely mine.
So in 2015 I declared an end to the series that brought me success and spent the next 5 years pushing and exploring new ideas. It was a period of transformation and discomfort. Of trying. Of sometimes succeeding. Of sometimes failing.
And in the end I found a new voice in my work. One that brings together everything important from my past and gives me a platform for trying something new. And while I’m still exploring what is possible in this new space – it feels like home.
This period of transformation was mirrored in my personal life as I moved from my home in Colorado to a new life in New Zealand. Everything shifted.
Change is hard. Navigating change takes courage and having someone to walk beside me and provide support on the journey was critical. My life coach was my partner in up-leveling not just my art, but also my life.
Which is why I chose to became a life coach, so I could add this element of support and deep questioning to my courses. To help students reach their full potential.

up level - a masterclass
Are you ready to up-level your art practice?
In this workshop advanced students will be guided through a series of exercises (some written, some quiet reflection, some group discussion and some studio-based making) to explore what is possible when we let go of what we know and take a leap into something new.
What will be your new? It will be different for every student. This is not a media specific course, so all artists are welcome. Please note that I will not be teaching any specific techniques.
What I will be providing is the structure and support for each student to push into new ways of thinking about their specific work.
We will also be discussing methodologies we can use to evaluate our progress and determining what works and what doesn’t. Learning how to critique our own work being a part of that equation.
While this is not a space for you to teach yourself a new technique, it is a place for you take the tools, materials, and techniques you already know and push and combine them in new ways.
The goal of this course is for each student to come out of the workshop with plan and methodology for how to move their artwork to a new level.
What this workshop is not: a place to make masterpieces. Or even finished work. Nope – we are not even going to try. The exercises are design to spark new ideas for directions to explore, not to explore them in detail.
This is a workshop for advanced students that have several years of experience working independently in their studio. You need to be able to work without instruction with your chosen media.
