Making it real: surf & turf
This is a new workshop that has just featured in Stitch Magazine.
We will make three pieces, the first concentrating on looking down into a rock pool and producing an artwork 22cm X 22cm, the second, two small 3D sculptures of either mushrooms or a mini reef.
From photographs we will be using a variety of unusual fabrics with different techniques developed by Bev to emulate the individual components and the overall structure of a piece of nature.
Techniques are varied and numerous, but will include: painting, dissolving, burning, many machine embroidery techniques and using heat tools.
We will be discussing, composition, colour, tone and texture to result in your own pleasing pieces of work.
Some experience of free motion machine embroidery would be useful.
