warped Surfaces
Join Ana Petidis in this 8-shaft weaving workshop to playfully explore techniques that feature warp design patterns and padded effects. Over five days you will sample techniques including supplementary warp, pique, hand manipulation and double weave. You will experiment with the elements of colour and material contrasts to create a small collection of unique samples. Materials will include commercial yarns in cotton and wool, textured yarns, handspun yarns, wadding, rope and more.
Suitable for intermediate and experienced weavers (weavers who are comfortable and able to wind a warp, dress a loom and read a weave draft).
*Students are required to provide their own weaving equipment including 8-Shaft table loom, shuttles, scissors, measuring tape, pen, pencils, paper/notebook. Please advise if you don’t have access to your own loom as we can assist to hire an 8-shaft table loom to you. Students will be provided with instructions to prepare a warp and dress their loom ready for the start of the workshop.
